“I’m not back, I’m better…” Sha’Carrie Richardson

“Yasss” because she is better, both physically and mentally. We all knew her capabilities then and she’s only perfected her craft.

When people say she’s back, understand Sha’Carrie never went anywhere. Rules are rules, right? And I was disappointed of her actions, but I get it….  And we can debate this, but I believe she was more than ready to compete despite the sorrow over her mom’s death. In my opinion she proved to all of us that she is still “that girl” at the recent world championship competition. Listen, Sha’Carrie put in two years of work, focusing on her physical and mental. She looks stronger and her glow is absolutely gorgeous. She is a whole vibe, in total control and I’m living for it.

Her quote brings me back to times when I thought I “fell off”- being physical/ health, relationships and work. I often reference one of my favorite quotes when I’m struggling, “allow yourself to be a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same damn time”. But Sha’Carrie took that a step further, because I never went away, I’m still here and the same person. Regardless of the highs and lows, there is always room for improvement. Give yourself grace when you’re not at best and allow yourself to feel the struggle. Understand you may move several steps backwards before progressing forward. I’ve discovered a lot about myself during the low times, so as hard as it sounds you gotta learn to appreciate the work in progress in order to become a masterpiece.

I’m rambling, but at the end of the day, setbacks don’t mean you dropped off. You’re still here and the same loveable person (ha). But the low times provide the opportunity for self-evaluation and learning what works best for you. So, after putting in work, you can show the world how you’re better than before.
